Help support my walk in memory of Rob and others

Dear Crows,

I'm taking part again this year in the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP)'s Out of the Darkness walk to raise awareness on suicide.

I'm walking in memory of three friends, whom I all lost at Purdue - Kristine Noonan; Blair Smith; and of course, Rob McDill.

Please help me reach my goal of $3,000 in the next four weeks.

You can donate online at:

Thanks a lot!

P.S. We will be giving the Robert McDill Ceremonial Sword again this year at the Purdue NROTC Fall Awards ceremony. More details to follow ...

Purdue Versus Touchdownless Jesus

I will be in South Bend today, about 30 rows off the field in the north endzone. Today begins Tiller's legendary final season where Our Boilermakers sweep through the Big Ten (plus ND) like a cool breeze...shutting down all opposing teams with a top secret special playbook given to Joe Tiller by a giant talking trout in a stream in western Montana. The trout instructed him that the day after the Trojan falls he could open the book and disseminate its unstoppable plays to his team, propelling them to at least a new years day bowl game.

Why am I frustrated again? Oh yeah Purdue football started.

Just another rant...I do it every year...Let's just say I am looking forward to Basketball season because Painter, Tiller, and crew are a wash!

Very crappy performance and cements the fact that we can never trust a 20 point lead at home. Not a good way to show up on national TV.

Warfish

My friends and I at work have been playing warfish.net. Its basically a variation on the board game RISK, but its turn based and email based so you can play with people that are far removed from you. It notifies you when its your turn (I have it email gmail and that forwards using a filter to text me). It is by invite only so let me know if you want me to invite you. I am starting a game today and inviting a few of you so lets get some gaming on.

Canoe Trip

I wanted to extend the invitation to our Alumni for the annual canoe trip. We will be floating down the Tippecanoe on Labor Day Monday at noon. If you have any questions please send me an email or drop me a call. Looking forward to seeing you if you can make it.

Pat Helluth

Made me think of Ruby - may or may not be safe for work depending on where you work...

And how much this would have helped our pledges back a few years ago.

Fall is fast approaching

I realized that tomorrow the Bears report to training camp meaning the Fall is fast approaching. Could one of the undergrads please put up some information about events and dates for start of the year? And was there already a rush calendar that was worked out for the fall last spring? Maybe some alums can make a few of the rush events and help out with things...but we gotta know about it ahead of time...

Big Ten Network Coming to Comcast

Comcast announced today that the Big Ten Network would be on expanded basic cable starting August 15th. I think this is big news because I spent every Saturday morning nursing coffee at a bar to see our games.

BK Bacholer Party/Dinner

Hey,
BK is having a Bacholer party dinner thing Thursday July 10, 2008, 7pm-11pm at the Goose Island Brewery in Clybourn. Anyone in the area feel free to stop by drink and eat whatever. I really am not sure what is all going on since it is organized by his brother, but I am just passing the word along. Let me know what else you need to know. I will be there, I am making the trip from D.C. So it should be good times and drinking

Slow Month

This month seems to have been pretty slow for Purdue Crows. I have to confess I have gotten pretty busy with the happenings of summer and haven't devoted much time to it. Here are the little tidbits I can think of for the last few weeks.
